On the Road Again...

So, after our trip to Arches National Park and a night in the hotel, we started talking about what to do for the rest of the weekend.  I had pulled some brochures from the hotel lobby and we started perusing them and making plans.  Little did the children know they were about to be on an extended road trip!  And, an educational one at that!  We loaded up the car and headed toward Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado.  Here is an arch that is on the highway between Moab and Monitcello.

In Monticello, they were celebrating Pioneer Day and there was traffic and people everywhere!  Down one of the main roads we looked over and saw the Monticello Temple.

We drove through beautiful scenic roads...past Dove Creek, Colorado.  We wanted to stop and buy some beans, but wouldn't you know that the ENTIRE town was closed because of Pioneer Day?  Apparently, they had all driven up to Monticello.  Around lunch time, we stopped at a WalMart to stock the cooler and find long-sleeved shirts for the boys since the weather was turning cool.  We bought a rotisserie chicken and had lunch in the green grass by the parking lot.  Yes...we are those kind of people!  If you want to deny that you know us because of it, I totally understand.  But I had to document our WalMart picnic.

At one point, during said picnic, Isabel started posing by the tree.  It was too funny!  (Please ignore the mismatched clothes.  We had not planned on this extended road trip and although being spontaneous is fun, it does cause a few minor issues as far as wardrobe and lodging is concerned!)  And then, of course, the brothers decided to make fun of her.  Unfortunately for them, I took their pictures too!
