Salto de Eyipantla en Catemaco, Veracruz

We went to Catemaco, Veracruz for a few days. It is about 3 hours from the port city of Veracruz. This is an absolutely amazing place to visit and probably the most beautiful place I've seen. It has a huge lake that meets the ocean, beaches, tours of the jungle, etc. On this particular day we visited the Salto de Eyipantla, a cool waterfall. So cool in fact, this is the place where they filmed the movie Apocalypto. This is from the top of the water fall. And for those of you who are concerned, our 10-year old guide told us that no one really jumped off the water fall...they used a doll!

These are from the bottom of the falls. Just to give you an idea of how tall the falls are, you have to go down 244 stairs. Believe me when I say that it is much easier going down, then climbing up. But if my 74-year-old mother-in-law could do it...I'm sure you could make the trip as well!
