In keeping with the spooky Halloween theme, Lehonti chose a ghost piñata for his birthday party. Unfortunately, our children have birthdays in months that are not really conducive to an outdoor party. So, we're thankful that we have some room downstairs to break the piñata and strong uncles/cousins to hold that thing up while kids are whacking away at it!
After the piñata it was time to open presents from the family. Sometimes, you can't tell who's more interested in the presents, Lehonti or all the little girls!
Or maybe Tía Frida is the most excited about this gift!
Every year, we let the kids choose what kind of cake they want to have at their party. I'd say 95% of the time they choose a Tres Leches cake from the Mexican bakery. Lehonti decided to have his cake decorated with the Transformers.
After we all sing (once in English and once in Spanish), it is tradition to take a "mordida" (little bite) in the corner of your cake. That signals the people around the birthday boy to shove his little face in the cake. Thu, the red frosting on Lehonti's forehead.
And, last, but not least, here is a photo with the birthday boy and his Grandpa Walsh.
